What changes in your supplement routine when spring starts
Spring changes your body clock, your training and the air you breathe. Daylight returns from late March, so your own vitamin D production starts up again. Pollen counts climb in the same weeks. Most people do not need more supplements in spring. They need a different set than in January.
The vitamin D dose you took in winter is not the dose you need now
UK government advice is that adults and children over four consider 10 micrograms (400 IU) of vitamin D a day during autumn and winter. From late March or early April to the end of September, most people can make enough from sunlight on their skin. Some groups are advised to supplement all year: people who spend little time outdoors, who cover their skin, or who have African, African-Caribbean or South Asian family background. Pollen season starts before the symptoms do
Tree pollen arrives before grass pollen, so many people start looking for support in March rather than May. Be realistic here: quercetin carries no approved European health claim, and it does not replace antihistamines from the pharmacy. Earlier than most people do. Tree pollen in the UK typically starts from late March, and plant compounds are not fast-acting like a pharmacy antihistamine. Studies on quercetin used daily intake over four weeks, so starting two to four weeks before your usual bad period is the practical approach. Take it every day, not only on high-pollen days. We cannot promise a result, and there is no approved claim for quercetin, but consistency is the one thing you control.
Choose on what you will actually take daily, then on absorption. Fat-soluble vitamins such as D and K do better in an oil base or with a meal containing fat.

No, and we will not suggest otherwise. Antihistamines are licensed medicines with a proven effect on symptoms. Supplements are food products, and for quercetin, bromelain or stinging nettle there are no approved European health claims for allergy symptoms. What people do report is using them alongside their usual routine, started early in the season. If your symptoms interfere with sleep or breathing, that is a conversation with a pharmacist or GP, not a shopping decision.
Longer evenings, more activity and disrupted sleep all play a part, and low iron is common in women of childbearing age. On claims we stay strict: iron, vitamin C, vitamin B12, vitamin B6, folate, magnesium, riboflavin and niacin each contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. That is a modest, specific statement, not an energy boost. If tiredness persists for weeks, ask your GP for a blood test before you build a stack of products.
Usually yes, but check for overlap first. Multivitamins, a separate vitamin D and a fortified drink can together push you above what you intended, especially for vitamin D, vitamin A, iron and zinc. Read the amount per serving, not the number on the front of the pack. Iron and zinc compete for absorption, so space them apart. If you take prescribed medication, including anticoagulants, check with your pharmacist before adding vitamin K or high-dose fish oil.
This is the question competitors skip, because it means selling less. Realistically: high-dose winter vitamin D can go back to 400 IU or stop, unless you are in an all-year group. Short-term immune formulas you started for a cold have done their job. Keep what is tied to how you actually live now: magnesium if you train outdoors, omega-3 if you eat little oily fish, iron only if a test showed you need it. Fewer products, taken consistently, beat a full shelf.
