What is in the TruHeight range for children and teens
TruHeight is an American supplement brand with one clear job: filling the nutrient gaps in a growing child's diet. It started in 2019 with the Growth Capsule and now covers gummies, protein shakes and a toddler drink. The thread running through the whole range is a bone nutrient core of calcium, vitamin D3 and vitamin K2. If you are new to buying vitamins for children, start with the honest part: these are nutrition products, not height treatments.
What the formulas actually contain
The Growth Capsules and the Growth Gummies follow the same recipe in two formats. Both use calcium as tricalcium phosphate, plus vitamin D3, vitamin K2 and a blend of plant extracts including ashwagandha. Vitamin D is necessary for normal growth and development of children's bones, and it also contributes to the normal absorption of calcium and phosphorus. Calcium is necessary for normal growth and development of children's bones as well, and vitamin K contributes to the maintenance of normal bones. The gummies are set with pectin, so there is no gelatine. If your child already takes supplements with vitamin D3, compare both labels before you add a second product.
Which product suits which age
- Toddler Formula+: a nutritional drink for ages 1 to 3, chocolate or vanilla.
- Kids Bone Growth Gummies: strawberry, from age 2.
- Growth Gummies and Growth Capsules: from age 5, same nutrients, different format.
- Growth Protein Shake: whey or pea protein, from age 4.
- Kids Prebiotic and Probiotic Gummies: from age 2.
The protein shakes give 16 g of protein per serving, which is the point for a picky eater who skips meals. Proteins contribute to muscle mass growth. The shakes also add calcium supplements and vitamins A, B, C and D, so they sit closer to a fortified meal top-up than to a sports powder.
Why we stock TruHeight
We look at three things before a brand goes live: the form of each nutrient, the dose, and whether the combination makes sense. TruHeight uses vitamin D3 rather than the cheaper D2, and it keeps calcium at a level that tops up a normal diet instead of replacing it. Offering the same formula as a capsule and as a gummy solves a real problem, because a child who will not swallow a capsule takes nothing at all. The brand tests batches for lead, mercury, arsenic and cadmium and for label accuracy. On our side, every product passes our compliance team, we test products ourselves and independent labs spot-check batches. You can read how we select brands and products.
What to expect, realistically
Height is largely inherited, and once the growth plates in the long bones have closed, no supplement changes that. What good nutrition can do is remove a shortfall that holds a child back. Parents who review these products describe months rather than weeks, and they almost always mention sleep and meals alongside the supplement. So treat TruHeight as the daily top-up next to food, sleep and movement, and judge it over a school term rather than a fortnight. That is a modest promise, but it is the one these products can actually keep. If your child takes medication or has a medical condition, speak to your GP first.
Frequently asked questions
TruHeight is a food supplement brand for children and teenagers, launched in 2019 with its Growth Capsule. The range now includes chewable gummies, whey and pea protein shakes, a toddler drink and prebiotic and probiotic gummies. Most products are built around the same bone nutrients: calcium, vitamin D3 and vitamin K2, with a herbal blend on top. Products are made in the United States in a GMP certified facility and tested by third-party labs for heavy metals and label accuracy.
The range is split by age rather than by goal. Toddler Formula+ is aimed at ages 1 to 3. The Kids Bone Growth Gummies and the prebiotic and probiotic gummies start at age 2. The Growth Protein Shake starts at age 4. The Growth Gummies and Growth Capsules, the two best known products, are for ages 5 and up. Always follow the age and serving on the label, because a younger child needs less of the same nutrients, not the same amount in a smaller body.
No supplement can promise extra centimetres, and we will not say otherwise. Height is mostly determined by genetics, and growth stops once the growth plates in the long bones close during the late teens. What nutrition can do is remove a gap that limits normal growth. Vitamin D is necessary for normal growth and development of children's bones, and calcium is necessary for the same. That is the honest benefit: supporting normal bone development in a child whose diet falls short.
Pick the format your child will genuinely take every day. The nutrients matter less than the consistency.
| Format | Suits | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| Growth Capsules | Ages 5+, confident swallowers | No added sugar or flavouring |
| Growth Gummies | Ages 5+, capsule refusers | Pectin based, fruit flavoured, contains sugar |
| Kids Bone Growth Gummies | From age 2 | Lower amounts for younger children |
| Growth Protein Shake | Ages 4+, picky eaters | Whey or pea protein, replaces a skipped snack |
If chewables are the only realistic option in your house, our wider range of gummy supplements is worth a look.
Give it at least two to three months of daily use, and judge it over a school term. Parents who review these products rarely report anything in the first weeks. What they describe more often, and earlier, is a steadier appetite and fewer skipped meals, which is what a fortified shake or a daily multivitamin is designed to do. Growth itself happens in spurts, so a change in height over eight weeks tells you very little either way.
Check the labels first, because stacking two children's multivitamins is the easiest way to go over the top with vitamin D, vitamin A and calcium. If the TruHeight product already covers a nutrient, drop the second source rather than taking both. Combining a Growth Gummy with a plain fish oil or a probiotic is usually straightforward, since the nutrients barely overlap. If you are unsure, or your child takes prescribed medication, ask your GP or pharmacist before adding anything.
NHS guidance gives a daily amount and a separate upper limit, and the upper limit is the number that matters when you are combining products.
| Age | Daily amount | Do not exceed |
|---|---|---|
| Under 1 year | 8.5 to 10 mcg (340 to 400 IU) | 25 mcg (1,000 IU) |
| 1 to 10 years | 10 mcg (400 IU) | 50 mcg (2,000 IU) |
| 11 to 17 years | 10 mcg (400 IU) | 100 mcg (4,000 IU) |
| Adults | 10 mcg (400 IU) | 100 mcg (4,000 IU) |

Ashwagandha is a plant extract used in several TruHeight growth products. There is no health claim approved by the European food safety authority for ashwagandha, so we make none: we can tell you it is in the formula, not what it does. Its safety has not been established for children, and it is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you want the bone nutrients without the herbal blend, a plain vitamin D and calcium product is the simpler route. Ask your GP if your child has a thyroid condition or takes medication.
