Frequently asked questions
Folate is the natural, active form of folic acid. In this multi, 5-MTHF (Quatrefolic®) is used, a form that is immediately usable by the body, without the need for prior conversion.
This multi contains vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin. Both are biologically active forms that are directly available in the body.
The B6 in this multi is present as pyridoxal-5'-phosphate (P-5-P), the active form of B6. This form naturally occurs in food and does not need further conversion.
Choline, here as VitaCholine® (choline bitartrate), is a nutrient often found in eggs. It has been added as an extra supplement for balanced intake.
Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) is mainly found in green leafy vegetables and is the most well-known form of vitamin K in food. Vitamin K2 (menaquinone) occurs in fermented products such as natto and in smaller amounts in animal foods. The main differences are in their structure and usage in the body: K2 is absorbed differently and remains active longer. That is why Bonusan Multi Pro Active contains only vitamin K2, in the form of menaquinone-7 (MK-7), a well-absorbable and stable version (K2VITAL®).
Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) comes from plant sources such as fungi. Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) naturally occurs in animal products like fish and eggs, but can also be obtained from plant sources such as lichens. This multi contains vitamin D3 because this form is better available to the body than D2. The vitamin D3 used is plant-based, so it is also suitable for people who do not want to use animal products.
Alpha lipoic acid is a fat- and water-soluble compound that naturally occurs in foods such as spinach and meat. It is often added to multis for its supportive role.
