Vuzïmo Omega-3 Vegan (60 softgels) contains an algae oil concentrate (OMEGAVIE®) as a source of EPA and DHA. One serving of 2 softgels provides 1500 mg algae oil concentrate, of which 540 mg EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and 360 mg DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), together 900 mg EPA and DHA. One pack contains 60 softgels and lasts about 1 month when taking the recommended dosage of 2 softgels per day. The product is suitable for vegans. Especially suitable for people who consciously choose plant-based sources of omega 3 fatty acids.

EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) is an omega 3 fatty acid that naturally occurs in oily fish, shellfish and algae.

What different types of fatty acids are there?
There are saturated fatty acids, unsaturated fatty acids and trans fats. Unsaturated fatty acids are further subdivided into monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, which include the omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids.
What is the difference between these types of fatty acids?
Saturated fatty acids are mainly found in animal products and certain plant oils, such as coconut oil and palm oil. Unsaturated fatty acids are mainly found in plant oils, nuts, seeds and fish. Polyunsaturated fatty acids, such as omega 3, contain several double bonds in their structure, whereas monounsaturated fatty acids contain one double bond.
Why does the omega 3 in this product come from algae oil instead of fish oil?
Algae oil is a plant-based source of omega 3 fatty acids, which makes this product suitable for vegans. Fish also originally obtain EPA and DHA from algae, so algae oil is used as a direct, plant-based source.
Where does omega 3 naturally occur?
Omega 3 fatty acids naturally occur in oily fish, such as salmon, herring and mackerel, and in algae, the original source of omega 3 in the food chain.
