Nordic Naturals Pet Cod Liver Oil (473 ml) contains cod liver oil from 100% wild Arctic cod. Each teaspoon (approximately 5 ml) contains 345 mg EPA, 460 mg DHA, and a total of 1,048 mg omega 3 fatty acids in triglyceride form. Depending on your dog's weight, you give 1.25 to 12.5 ml daily, either on its own or mixed into food. The liquid form makes it easy to adjust the amount to suit your dog. With a content of 473 ml, this bottle is intended for medium and large dogs.
What is cod liver oil?
Cod liver oil is oil extracted from the liver of fish, usually cod. Cod liver oil naturally contains omega 3 fatty acids, such as EPA and DHA, and also includes vitamins A and D.
What is the difference between cod liver oil and fish oil?
Cod liver oil is extracted from the liver of the fish. Fish oil is usually extracted from the whole bodies of small, oily fish species such as anchovies and sardines. Both contain omega 3 fatty acids, but the ratio between EPA and DHA is different. In this cod liver oil, there is more DHA (460 mg) than EPA (345 mg) per teaspoon.
What is Arctic cod?
Arctic cod is cod that lives in the cold waters of the Arctic, such as the Barents Sea and the Norwegian Sea. The cod liver oil in this product comes exclusively from wild-caught Arctic cod.
