Nordic Naturals Omega-3 Pet – Liquid (60, 237 or 473 ml) for dogs, contains fish oil from wild-caught, sustainably fished anchovies, sardines, mackerel and herring. Each teaspoon (about 5 ml) contains 736 mg EPA, 460 mg DHA and a total of 1,380 mg omega 3 fatty acids in triglyceride form. The fish oil from Nordic Naturals is Friend of the Sea certified. Depending on your dog's weight, give 1.25 to 12.5 ml oil daily, either straight or mixed in with food. Thanks to the liquid form, you can easily adjust the amount to suit your dog. The 60 ml bottle is convenient for getting to know the product or for small dogs. The 237 and 473 ml bottles are suitable for long-term use or for larger dogs.
What are omega 3 fatty acids?
Omega 3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fatty acids that occur naturally in oily fish, shellfish, algae and certain plant sources. The best-known forms are EPA, DHA and ALA.
What is the difference between EPA and DHA?
EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) are two omega 3 fatty acids found mainly in oily fish and algae. A teaspoon of this oil contains 736 mg EPA and 460 mg DHA.
From which fish is the oil sourced?
The fish oil in this product comes from anchovy, sardine, mackerel and herring. These are small, oily fish species that naturally contain omega 3 fatty acids.
What does triglyceride form mean?
A triglyceride is the form in which fats are naturally present in fish. Three fatty acids are attached to a glycerol molecule. The omega 3 fatty acids in this oil are present in this form.
Does the oil have a taste?
This oil is unflavoured and has the natural smell and taste of fish oil. As you mix the oil into the food, it is given together with your dog's main meal.
What does crude fat mean?
Crude fat is the total amount of fat in a product, measured using a standard laboratory method. As this product consists almost entirely of fish oil, the crude fat content is high: at least 98.5%.
