Vitakruid DIM Builder (60 capsules) contains extracts from three cruciferous vegetables: broccoli sprouts, yellow mustard seed and white cabbage. Each capsule provides 400 mg broccoli sprout extract (HiActives®), 150 mg yellow mustard seed extract and 150 mg white cabbage extract, complemented with 5 mg zinc and 3 mg black pepper extract (BioPerine®). The broccoli sprout extract is made from young broccoli sprouts that are dried, ground and sieved at low temperature. The extracts are naturally rich in glucosinolates, plant compounds characteristic of cruciferous vegetables. Thanks to the capsule form, they are easy to take, with just 1 capsule per day. Available in 60 capsules, enough for 60 days.
Cruciferous vegetables, also called brassicas, belong to the plant family Brassicaceae. The name refers to the four petals that form a cross shape. Well-known examples are broccoli, cauliflower, kale, Brussels sprouts, white cabbage, radish and swede.
Glucosinolates are sulphur-containing plant compounds naturally found in cruciferous vegetables. They give vegetables such as mustard, radish and watercress their spicy or slightly bitter flavour. A well-known example is glucoraphanin, which is abundant in broccoli.
DIM stands for diindolylmethane. It is a compound that can be formed from indole-3-carbinol (I3C). I3C is released from certain glucosinolates when cruciferous vegetables are cut or chewed.
No. DIM Builder does not contain DIM, but contains extracts of brassicas that are naturally rich in glucosinolates. These are the compounds from which DIM can be formed. That is what the product’s name refers to.
BioPerine® is the brand name of a patented extract of black peppercorns. The extract contains 95 to 98% piperine, the compound that gives black pepper its hot flavour.
Zinc citrate is zinc that is bound to citric acid. Zinc is a trace element naturally found in, among other things, meat, shellfish, dairy, wholegrain products, and pumpkin seeds. One capsule contains 5 mg zinc.
