Vitakruid Magnesium 200 Complex (90 or 180 tablets) contains magnesium in four forms: taurate, malate, bisglycinate and citrate. Each tablet provides 200 mg of magnesium, with 50 mg from each form. Take 1 tablet per day, which can be increased to a maximum of 2 tablets. The formula is supplemented with 0.7 mg of vitamin B6 per tablet in the form of pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P-5-P). This way you combine amino acid chelated and organically bound forms of magnesium in a single tablet. Available in packs of 90 and 180 tablets.
In magnesium taurate, magnesium is bound to taurine, a sulphur-containing amino acid. Taurine is naturally present in, among others, meat, fish, eggs and shellfish.
In magnesium bisglycinate, magnesium is bound to two molecules of glycine. The prefix 'bis' refers to this, meaning 'two'. Glycine is the smallest amino acid and occurs naturally in, among others, meat, fish and dairy.
In magnesium malate, magnesium is bound to malic acid, also known as malate. Malic acid occurs naturally in fruit, especially apples. It gives apples their fresh, slightly sour taste.
In magnesium citrate, magnesium is bound to citric acid. Citric acid occurs naturally in citrus fruits, such as lemons and limes.
Elemental magnesium is the amount of pure magnesium in a magnesium compound. The label always states the amount of elemental magnesium: 200 mg per tablet. The weight of the substances to which the magnesium is bound does not count.
P-5-P stands for pyridoxal-5-phosphate, an active form of vitamin B6. Other forms of vitamin B6, such as pyridoxine hydrochloride, are first converted to an active form. P-5-P is itself already an active form.
Magnesium is mainly found in nuts, seeds and kernels. Per 100 grams, hemp seed contains about 700 mg magnesium, pumpkin seeds 535 mg, cocoa powder 525 mg and Brazil nuts 410 mg. Whole grains, legumes and green leafy vegetables also contain magnesium.
