Nordic Naturals Complete Omega-D3 (60 softgels) contains a combination of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA), omega-6 (GLA) from borage seed oil, and omega-9 (oleic acid), supplemented with vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). This supplement is intended for people who want to support their daily intake of various omega fatty acids and vitamin D3. The fish oil is sourced from anchovies, sardines, mackerel, and herring that are sustainably caught.
These are different types of unsaturated fatty acids, each with a unique structure and dietary source. Some omega-3 and -6 fatty acids are essential and must be obtained through the diet, while the body can make omega-9 itself.
These are small fish that are low on the food chain. As a result, they naturally contain fewer contaminants than larger predatory fish.
Foods rich in omega-3 include oily fish such as salmon, mackerel, herring and sardines. Plant sources such as flaxseed, chia seed, walnuts and hemp seed also contain omega-3. Algae oil is also a vegetarian source of DHA.
