Nordic Naturals Prenatal Multivitamin (60 tablets) is a balanced multivitamin suitable for use during pregnancy or in preparation for it. The formula contains a wide mix of vitamins and minerals in highly absorbable forms, such as Quatrefolic® folate, iron bisglycinate (Ferrochel®), and active B vitamins like B6 and B12. Minerals such as magnesium, zinc, selenium, and copper are also present in amino acid chelated forms. In addition, it contains choline, a nutrient not often found in multivitamins, and a combination of water- and fat-soluble vitamins. The recommended dose is only 2 tablets per day.
This product contains folate in the form of Quatrefolic® ([6S]-5-methyltetrahydrofolate), an active form of folate. Unlike synthetic folic acid, this form does not need to be converted in the body first, making it easier to use for some people.
Vitamin C is present as calcium-L-ascorbate and magnesium-L-ascorbate. These buffered forms are gentle on the stomach and are well absorbed, with the added benefit of small amounts of calcium and magnesium.
Vitamin E is included as RRR-alpha-tocopheryl succinate, a natural, biologically active form of vitamin E that is often well absorbed.
This supplement contains vitamin K2 as menaquinone-7 (MK-7), a highly absorbable and stable form that is fat-soluble. MK-7 remains active in the body longer than other forms of vitamin K.
Niacin is present as inositol hexanicotinate and niacinamide. These forms are flush-free, meaning they usually do not cause warmth or redness, as can happen with classic niacin.
