Vitakruid Vitamin K2 100 mcg (60 tablets) contains 100 mcg of vitamin K2 per tablet in the form of menaquinone-7 (MK-7). This is the same form that naturally occurs in natto, a Japanese dish of fermented soybeans. This supplement uses K2VITAL® DELTA, a vitamin K2 raw material from specialist Kappa Bioscience. The small tablets are easy to take and suitable for vegans. Take 1 to 2 tablets per day with your evening meal, so the supplement easily fits into your daily routine. One pack lasts 30 to 60 days.
Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin. It is a collective name for a group of related substances. The two most important forms are vitamin K1 and vitamin K2.
Vitamin K1, also called phylloquinone, is produced by plants and is mainly found in green leafy vegetables. Vitamin K2, also called menaquinone, is produced by bacteria. It occurs in fermented foods and in small amounts in animal products.
Vitamin K2 occurs in small amounts in meat, eggs, and dairy, especially in hard cheese. The richest source is natto, a Japanese dish made from fermented soybeans.
Natto is a traditional Japanese dish of soybeans fermented with a bacterium, Bacillus subtilis var. natto. It has a strong flavour and a stringy texture. Natto naturally contains a lot of vitamin K2 in the form of MK-7.
With micro-encapsulation, very small particles of a substance are coated with a protective layer. With K2VITAL® DELTA, each vitamin K2 particle has a double coating. This coating protects the vitamin from external influences, such as light, oxygen, and other ingredients in the tablet.
Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin. That’s why you are advised to take the tablet with a meal containing fat. For many people, the evening meal is the largest meal of the day. For this reason, the manufacturer advises taking the tablet during or just after the evening meal, with a glass of water.
