Vitakruid Vitamin D3 & K2 softgels (90 pieces) combine two commonly used fat-soluble vitamins in one convenient capsule. Each softgel contains 25 micrograms of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) and 40 micrograms of vitamin K2 (menaquinone-7). The vitamins are dissolved in MCT oil, making intake simple. The small size makes the capsules easy to swallow. Suitable for daily use and practical at home or on the go. One package is sufficient for one to three months, depending on the dosage.
Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) is mainly found in green leafy vegetables and is primarily associated with food. Vitamin K2 (menaquinones) is found in fermented products and animal foods. K2 has different subtypes, with menaquinone-7 (MK-7) being a commonly used variant in supplements due to its longer presence in the body.
Menaquinone-7 is a specific form of vitamin K2 obtained through fermentation (e.g. from natto). This form is often chosen for supplements because of its stability and the possibility of a low dose per capsule.
Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) is of plant origin, whereas vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) usually comes from animal sources, such as wool fat (lanolin).
Both vitamins D and K are fat-soluble. An oil base, such as MCT oil, ensures good distribution of the fat-soluble substances in the capsule and is common in this type of supplement.
A meal usually contains fats, which can support the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins like D3 and K2. That’s why it is often recommended to take fat-soluble supplements during or after a meal containing some fat.
