Lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids from the xanthophyll group, a type of plant pigment that often occur together in foods and supplements.

They are mainly found in dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach and kale, but also in corn, bell pepper, and egg yolk, where they contribute to the natural color of these products.

In this supplement, lutein and zeaxanthin are obtained from Tagetes erecta (African marigold), a plant that naturally contains a high concentration of these carotenoids and is therefore widely used as a source.

Lutemax 2020® is a standardized marigold extract in which the ratio and amount of lutein and zeaxanthin per dose are fixed.

These carotenoids naturally occur together in foods and are therefore often combined in a set ratio within supplements.

Lutein and zeaxanthin are fat-soluble substances and are dissolved in oil within a softgel in this product, which matches the nature of these ingredients and how they are processed in supplements.
