What is the difference between natural and synthetic astaxanthin?
Natural astaxanthin is extracted from the alga Haematococcus pluvialis and is well absorbed. Synthetic astaxanthin is often used in fish feed (such as for salmon), but is not approved for human use in the Netherlands.
