Free riboflavin and riboflavin-5-phosphate are not the same on the label

When is the best time to take a riboflavin supplement?
Take it with a meal. Riboflavin is absorbed better with food, and a full stomach makes higher strengths easier to tolerate. Why does vitamin B2 turn my urine bright yellow?
Because riboflavin is itself a yellow pigment. The name comes from the Latin word for yellow. What your body does not use is filtered out through the kidneys, and at higher strengths that colours the urine a bright, almost fluorescent yellow. It is harmless and expected, and it is not a sign that the supplement is useless. It simply shows the amount was more than your body needed at that moment.
