Vitamin B2, also known as riboflavin, is a water-soluble B vitamin found in foods such as dairy, meat, eggs, and green leafy vegetables.

The riboflavin in supplement form is identical to the synthetic form found in many fortified foods. B2 from food is often combined with other nutrients, while a supplement contains only one substance.

Riboflavin is naturally yellow in color. When taking higher doses, this can be visible in the urine, which is a normal phenomenon with this type of B-vitamin.

Riboflavin is the basic form of vitamin B2, which the body still has to convert. Riboflavin-5-phosphate is an already converted form and is therefore found in some supplements as an alternative.
