Research on the effect and mechanism of a Dermaroller

Study 1 (Dhurat et al., 2013)

In this study, 100 men with Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA) hair loss were monitored for 12 weeks using a Dermaroller and Minoxidil. In the group that used a Dermaroller and Minoxidil, there was an increase of 91 hairs, whereas it was only 22.2 hairs with Minoxidil alone. Additionally, 82% of users reported an improvement in their hair situation with the help of the Dermaroller.

Study 2 (Song et al., 2012)

This study looked at the effect of the Dermaroller on different types of hair loss, including telogen effluvium and alopecia areata. Women were treated on one side of the scalp with a Dermaroller and hair growth stimulating lotion and on the other side with a Dermaroller and a saline solution. The number of hairs on the side with the Dermaroller and hair growth stimulating lotion increased by an average of 12.7. On the other side, there was actually a decrease of an average of 4.2 hairs.
