Solgar Chromium Picolinate (90 tablets) contains 100 micrograms of chromium per tablet, in the form of chromium picolinate (Chromax®). In this compound, chromium is bound to picolinic acid. The tablets are small and easy to swallow. The recommended dosage is one tablet per day, preferably with a meal. The product comes in dark glass, providing protection against the effects of light, air, and moisture.
Chromium is a trace element that occurs in small amounts in foods such as whole grain products, nuts, meat, vegetables, and certain spices.
It contains chromium in the form of chromium picolinate, where chromium is bound to picolinic acid. This form is often chosen because of its stable compound.
Other commonly used forms are, for example, chromium chloride, a simple inorganic compound, and chromium yeast, in which chromium is naturally incorporated into yeast cells. The choice for a particular form often depends on the desired stability, solubility, and application in supplements.
