What is melatonin?
Melatonin is a hormone produced by your brain. The production of melatonin increases when it gets dark. Under the influence of daylight, melatonin production decreases. Melatonin naturally occurs in small amounts in certain foods, such as: cherries, grapes, bananas, tomatoes, rice, oats, nuts (such as almonds), seeds (such as sunflower seeds), dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt), chicken, turkey, eggs, legumes (lentils, beans), cherry juice, chamomile tea.

What are the disadvantages of melatonin?
The use of melatonin can have various disadvantages. Proper usage is important. Use is discouraged, unless otherwise advised:
- For children under 12 years old
- During pregnancy and breastfeeding
- For a continuous period longer than 3 weeks
- When using medicines that affect the brain
