NOW Foods Guggul Extract (90 tablets) contains 1000 mg Gugulipid® per 2-tablet serving. The extract is obtained from the resin of the Commiphora mukul tree and is standardised to at least 2.5% guggulsterones. The formula also contains 90 mg elemental magnesium from magnesium carbonate and magnesium oxide. The recommended dosage is 2 tablets, 2 to 3 times per day. Depending on daily intake, one pack is sufficient for approximately 15 to 22 days.
Resin is a sticky, natural substance secreted by certain trees and shrubs. Once hardened, the resin is collected and processed into an extract.
Guggulsterones are natural plant compounds that are naturally present in the resin of the Commiphora mukul tree. These are steroid compounds characteristic of guggul extract and are often used to standardise the composition of the extract.
Elemental magnesium is the amount of pure magnesium that a compound actually provides. A magnesium compound consists of magnesium and another substance, such as carbonate or oxide, but the label usually states the amount of elemental magnesium.
Magnesium oxide is a compound of magnesium and oxygen. It is a commonly used form of magnesium in food supplements and naturally contains a relatively high percentage of elemental magnesium.
Guggul extract is obtained from the resin of the Commiphora mukul tree. This tree naturally grows in arid regions of India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
