MethylPro® L-Methylfolate 7.5 mg (30 or 90 capsules) contains a high dose of folate in the form of L-Methylfolate, combined with glycine. L-Methylfolate is a specific form of folate, and glycine is an amino acid found in many protein-rich foods. The capsules are taken once a day and are available in different packaging sizes, suitable for short-term or long-term use.
DFE stands for Dietary Folate Equivalent and is a US calculation method for folate intake. It is not common and not required to state DFE on the label in the EU. On European labels, folate is expressed in micrograms (µg).
Folate is an important vitamin, but caution is advised at high doses. This product contains 7500 mcg folate per daily dose, which is higher than the amount suitable for long-term daily use. Therefore, this product is intended for temporary use or use as advised by a professional.
Folic acid and L-methylfolate are two different forms of folate. Folic acid is a synthetic variant that is widely used in fortified foods. L-Methylfolate is a form found within natural biological systems and differs in chemical structure from folic acid.
Folate occurs naturally in foods such as green leafy vegetables, legumes, citrus fruits, and organ meats. In these products, folate is present in various natural forms.
L-Methylfolate itself is usually not directly obtained from foods. It is a form that arises from natural biological processes and is therefore often used as a separate ingredient in supplements.
Glycine is an amino acid. Glycine is found in many protein-rich foods, both of animal and plant origin.
Glycine is classified as a non-essential amino acid. This means it is not one of the amino acids that must necessarily be obtained from the diet.
