This supplement contains hydrolyzed collagen type II from chicken sternum. 'Hydrolyzed' means that the collagen has been broken down into smaller pieces (peptides), making it suitable for use in capsules.
Type I collagen usually comes from beef or fish, and is the most common form. Type II comes from chicken cartilage. Type III is often obtained together with type I. Each type has a different protein structure and comes from a different source.
Collagen is naturally found in animal products such as bones, skin, fish bones, and broths made from them. It does not occur in plant-based foods, although some plant-based foods may contain substances that, when combined with other nutrients, can support collagen.
