Can I buy Biovea melatonin in the UK?
No. In the UK melatonin is classed as a prescription-only medicine, not a food supplement, so no shop can legally sell it over the counter. The NHS states that melatonin supplements sold abroad are not authorised for sale here. That is why you will not see it in our Biovea selection, even though other Biovea country sites list it. If sleep is your goal, speak to your GP about melatonin, or look at ingredients that are permitted in food supplements in Great Britain.
How long before I notice anything from a Biovea supplement?
Plan on two to three weeks of consistent daily use before you draw a conclusion, and longer for anything aimed at hair, skin or nails, where growth cycles mean two to three months is more realistic. What should I check before combining Biovea 5-HTP or St John's Wort with medication?
Check with your GP or pharmacist first, and do it before you order. St John's Wort is well documented as interacting with a wide list of prescription medicines, including some contraceptives and antidepressants, because it changes how quickly the liver clears them. 5-HTP is also one to raise with a professional if you take anything that affects mood or sleep. Neither is a reason to avoid these products, but they are a reason to ask one question before you start.
