Vitakruid Symflora® Femme (90 capsules) contains 500 mg Quatreflora® per capsule, a patented yeast strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (CNCM I-3856). The formula has been specially developed for women. Unlike the other products in the Symflora® line, Symflora® Femme does not contain bacterial strains but a yeast. The yeast strain is cultivated on a plant-based medium, such as sugar beet or sugar cane. This makes the capsules suitable for vegans. ProbioAct® is a technology Vitakruid uses in products with bacterial strains. According to the manufacturer, this technology is not needed for yeast, because yeasts naturally have a sturdy cell wall.
CFU stands for colony-forming units. It is the unit that indicates how many living micro-organisms a product contains. Each unit is one cell that can multiply into a colony.
Bacterial strains are often cultivated on a medium of dairy products. The yeast strain in Symflora® Femme is cultivated on a plant-based medium, such as sugar beet or sugar cane. The capsule is also plant-based.
