Vitakruid Symflora® Original (30 or 60 sachets) contains a combination of 8 bacterial strains with 2 billion colony-forming units (CFU) per sachet. In addition, each sachet contains 300 mg inulin, FOS and dextrin. These are dietary fibres that naturally occur in grains, vegetables and fruit. The powder has a natural vanilla flavour and easily dissolves in a glass of hand-warm water. You only need 1 sachet per day before breakfast, so one pack lasts 30 or 60 days. The supplement is suitable for vegetarians and contains ProbioAct® technology, which means you can store it at room temperature.
Bifidobacterium is a genus of bacteria that naturally occurs in, among others, fermented dairy products such as yoghurt and kefir. Symflora® Original contains two strains from this genus: Bifidobacterium lactis (W51) and Bifidobacterium lactis (W52). The full scientific name of this species is Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis.
Lactobacillus is a genus of lactic acid bacteria. These bacteria naturally occur in fermented foods, such as yoghurt, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi and sourdough bread. Symflora® Original contains five strains listed under this name on the label.
Lactic acid bacteria are bacteria that convert sugars into lactic acid. They have been used for centuries to ferment foods, for example in making yoghurt, cheese, sauerkraut and gherkins. Many strains from the genera Lactobacillus and Enterococcus belong to the lactic acid bacteria.
CFU stands for colony-forming units. The number indicates how many live bacteria are present in a product. One sachet of Symflora® Original contains 2 x 10^9 CFU, which amounts to 2 billion colony-forming units.
Inulin is a dietary fibre that naturally occurs in, among others, chicory root, onion, garlic, leek, asparagus and banana. In supplements, inulin is often derived from chicory root. Symflora® Original contains inulin together with FOS and dextrin, a total of 300 mg per sachet.
ProbioAct® is the name of a technology in which specially selected ingredients are added to the formula. This allows you to keep Symflora® Original dry, dark and at room temperature, and you do not need to store it in the fridge.
