Vitakruid Reishi³ Duo Extract (60 capsules) contains a combination of two extracts from Ganoderma lucidum. Each capsule provides 500 mg reishi extract, composed of a duo extract (33:1) and a classic extract (14:1), exclusively from the fruiting body. The extract is standardized to 30% polysaccharides, 17% beta-glucans (1,3/1,6), and triterpenes. The reishi is cultivated on duan wood in the Chinese highlands and then processed using combined extraction techniques. The capsules are plant-based and suitable for vegans.
Reishi is the name for the mushroom Ganoderma lucidum. In Asia, this mushroom is also known as Lingzhi. It is a woody fungus with a glossy reddish-brown cap and a long history in traditional uses.
Reishi naturally grows in parts of Asia, particularly in China and Japan. Nowadays, the mushroom is cultivated under controlled conditions on wood, such as linden or beech, under carefully monitored circumstances.
The extract ratio indicates how many grams of reishi are used for one gram of extract. With a 33:1 extract, 33 grams of reishi are used for 1 gram of concentrated extract, and for 14:1 it is 14 grams.
Extraction concentrates specific components from the mushroom, providing a standardized and consistent composition per capsule. Raw powder contains the whole material but is less concentrated.
Standardization means that each batch is checked for fixed levels of certain substances, such as polysaccharides, beta-glucans, and triterpenes. This ensures a consistent composition per capsule.
Polysaccharides are complex carbohydrates naturally present in mushrooms. Beta-glucans are a specific subgroup of polysaccharides with a distinctive 1,3/1,6 structure.
Triterpenes are natural plant compounds found in the fruiting body of Ganoderma lucidum. They are part of the characteristic substance profile of reishi.
The fruiting body is the visible, above-ground part of the mushroom. This product contains only extract from this part and no mycelium or added carriers.
