Shilajit is a dark brown to black sticky resin that seeps from rock crevices in mountain areas. The substance naturally contains fulvic acid, humic acid and various minerals. In supplements, shilajit is usually used as a purified extract.
Shilajit is mainly found in the Himalayas. It is also found in other high-altitude mountain areas, such as the Altai and the Caucasus. The resin emerges from rocks, especially during the warmer months.
Fulvic acid is an organic substance that is formed when plant material in the soil breaks down. It belongs to the humic substances and is naturally present in shilajit, peat and fertile soil, among others. Each dose of this supplement contains 200 mg fulvic acid.
An extract ratio of 20:1 means that 20 parts of raw material are needed to make 1 part of extract. This makes the extract more concentrated than the original raw material.
This means that the extract contains a set amount of fulvic acid, in this case 200 mg per 1,000 mg of extract per dose. This standardisation ensures the composition remains the same across different production batches.
