NOW Foods CurcuFRESH™ Curcumin (60 capsules) contains 500 mg turmeric juice powder per capsule, providing 20 mg curcuminoids. For CurcuFRESH™, only fresh turmeric (Curcuma longa) rhizome is used. Instead of drying the rhizome and extracting it with solvents, the juice is made and then processed into powder. This way, the curcumin remains in the form it naturally occurs in the fresh juice, along with the other constituents from the rhizome. The plant-based capsules are easy to take. Take 1 capsule one to two times per day with a meal, so one package lasts 30 to 60 days.
CurcuFRESH™ is the brand name of a turmeric raw material from Akay. It is a powder made from the juice of fresh turmeric rhizome. The rhizome is therefore not dried first.
A standard turmeric extract is usually made from dried rhizome. The curcuminoids are extracted from it with solvents and then highly concentrated, often up to 95%. CurcuFRESH™ is made from the juice of fresh rhizome, without drying and without solvents. The curcumin therefore remains in the form it naturally has in the fresh juice.
With CurcuFRESH™, it is not about as high a curcuminoid content as possible. The curcumin remains in the natural composition of the fresh juice. The powder therefore consists of 4% curcuminoids. The amount is therefore not directly comparable to that of a concentrated extract.
Turmeric (Curcuma longa), also called yellow root, is a plant from the ginger family. The plant originally comes from India and Southeast Asia. The rhizome is bright orange-yellow inside and is used, among other things, as a spice in curry.
Curcuminoids are the plant compounds that give turmeric its bright yellow colour. There are three curcuminoids: curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin. Curcumin is the most well-known of these.
