Metabolic Maintenance® Magnesium Citrate (120 or 240 capsules) is a practical choice for anyone looking to add extra magnesium to their daily diet. Each capsule contains 150 mg of magnesium in the form of magnesium citrate, supplemented with 10 mg of vitamin C. The combination is easy to take and fits well into a regular routine, for example at breakfast. Ideal for daily use – one capsule per day is sufficient.
Magnesium citrate is a combination of magnesium and citric acid. This form is highly soluble in water and is often used in powder form or capsules. It is a popular choice in supplements because of its simple composition and the fact that it is easy to dose.
Each form of magnesium has its own characteristics. Magnesium oxide contains a lot of elemental magnesium but is chosen less often due to its solubility. Magnesium bisglycinate is bound to the amino acid glycine and is known to be mild. Magnesium citrate has a more acidic character and is often chosen in formulations where solubility is important.
Citric acid is a natural substance found in citrus fruits such as lemons and oranges. It is widely used as an acidity regulator in food and beverages, and also as a binder in supplements.
Vitamin C is often added to supplements with minerals. It is a commonly used, water-soluble vitamin and is frequently combined with other nutrients in daily formulas.
Ascorbic acid is the water-soluble form of vitamin C and occurs naturally in fruits such as oranges and berries. Ascorbyl palmitate is a fat-soluble variant and is sometimes added for balance in formulas containing both fat- and water-soluble substances.
You can find magnesium in green leafy vegetables such as spinach, as well as in nuts, seeds, whole grains, legumes, and mineral water. So, it is present in many different types of foods.
