What Hairburst offers and who it suits
A hair-only brand in several formats
Hairburst is a British brand that does one thing: hair. It started in 2014 and now sells supplements next to shampoo, conditioner, leave-in treatments and scalp serums. Its best known product is the heart-shaped chewable gummy in strawberry and blackcurrant, two a day, with a bottle lasting a month. Next to it sit capsule formulas, including the Advanced+ range. If you are still weighing up options, our wider range of hair growth supplements shows what else exists.
Three nutrients do the legal work
Hair supplements often list long ingredient tables. Only a handful of those ingredients carry an approved European claim for hair: biotin, zinc and selenium each contribute to the maintenance of normal hair. Ingredients such as MSM, marine collagen, hyaluronic acid and L-cysteine appear in the capsule formula, but no hair claim has been approved for them. The UK advertising regulator confirmed that point in 2019, when it ruled against hair wording Hairburst used at the time. We would rather tell you which parts are approved than let a long list imply that every line is proven. We ask the same question of every brand in our range.
Capsules carry more, chewables are easier to take
The capsule formula holds far more vitamins and minerals than a gummy, simply because a gummy base can only carry so much. The chewables exist for people who dislike swallowing capsules. Two practical details shoppers often miss:
- The standard chewables use bovine gelatine, so they are not vegetarian or vegan. The vegan gummy is the alternative.
- The original capsule contains fish collagen, which matters if you avoid fish or have a fish allergy.
Why we carry Hairburst
We stock Hairburst because it is clear about what its products are for, and consistent about the nutrients that matter for hair: biotin, zinc and selenium, at daily amounts that stay sensible rather than extreme. We carry both the capsules and the chewables, so your choice is about how you like taking a supplement, not about our margin. We buy directly from the brand, so what arrives is authentic. Every product passes our compliance team before it goes live, we test products ourselves, and independent labs spot-check batches. You can read how we select brands.
What to expect, and what not to
Hairburst says itself that its supplements cannot bring back hair that has already stopped growing. What they support is the hair you still have. Plan on about three months of daily use before you judge anything, because hair grows roughly a centimetre a month and any change has to grow out to be visible. Photos every four weeks are more reliable than memory. Take one hair supplement at a time instead of stacking two, since the nutrients overlap. If you want to look beyond a single brand, our pages on hair, skin and nails cover the same nutrients across other formats. Hairburst suits you best if your hair is struggling and your diet is thin on these nutrients; if you eat plenty of fish, nuts, eggs and meat, the gain is likely to be smaller.
Frequently asked questions
What is Hairburst?
Hairburst is a UK hair brand founded in 2014. It sells food supplements for hair alongside shampoo, conditioner, leave-in treatments and scalp serums. The supplements are built around vitamins and minerals rather than medicines, with biotin, zinc and selenium as the nutrients that carry approved hair claims. The best known product is the chewable gummy; the capsule formulas contain a longer ingredient list.
Which Hairburst format should I choose?
The choice comes down to how many nutrients you want and how you like taking them.
| Format | What it offers | Best suited for |
|---|---|---|
| Capsules | Longest nutrient list | Most complete daily option |
| Chewable gummies | Fewer nutrients, gelatine base | Trouble swallowing capsules |
| Vegan gummies | No animal gelatine | Plant-based diets |
| Shampoo and serums | Applied to hair and scalp | Use alongside a supplement |
If you avoid fish, check the capsule label, since the original formula contains fish collagen.
How long before I notice anything?
Hairburst recommends daily use for 90 days. That timeline is realistic rather than cautious marketing: hair grows around a centimetre a month, so any improvement in new growth has to physically grow out before you can see it. Some people notice hair feeling stronger sooner. Take a photo in the same light every four weeks; it is a far more honest record than day-to-day impressions in the mirror.
Are Hairburst vitamins suitable for vegans?
Not all of them. The standard chewable gummies are made on a bovine gelatine base, so they are not suitable for vegans or vegetarians. Hairburst makes a vegan gummy for that reason, and it is the version to pick if gelatine is a dealbreaker. The capsule formulas are not automatically vegan either, as the original contains fish collagen. Always check the label of the specific product you are buying.
Can I take Hairburst alongside other supplements?
Take only one hair supplement at a time. Hair formulas overlap heavily, so combining two means doubling up on biotin, zinc, selenium and vitamin A without any extra benefit. Pairing a Hairburst supplement with something for a different goal, such as omega-3 or magnesium, is usually straightforward. If you already take a multivitamin, compare the two labels first and keep an eye on the amounts of zinc and vitamin A.
Does the biotin in Hairburst cause breakouts?
Breakouts are usually linked to very high single-nutrient doses rather than the amounts used in a mixed hair formula. Biotin, also called vitamin B8, contributes to the maintenance of normal hair, and extra biotin beyond your needs does not add more benefit. If your skin reacts, dropping to one unit a day or pausing for a week is a reasonable way to check whether the supplement is the cause.
Can I use Hairburst while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Check the label first. Several Hairburst formulas contain vitamin A as retinol, and NHS guidance is to avoid supplements containing vitamin A during pregnancy, because too much can be harmful in pregnancy. Postpartum shedding is also usually hormonal and settles on its own over several months. Speak to your midwife, GP or pharmacist before starting any hair supplement while pregnant or breastfeeding, and bring the label with you.
Will Hairburst help with hair loss or thinning?
Hairburst states plainly that its supplements cannot regrow hair that has already stopped growing. They support the hair still in its growth phase, which can make hair feel stronger and look fuller over months. Nutrient support helps most when intake is genuinely short: zinc and selenium both contribute to the maintenance of normal hair, but very high selenium intake works against you, and the NHS advises staying at or below 350 micrograms a day from supplements. Persistent or patchy loss deserves a GP visit.
