Shepherd's purse is a plant from the mustard family that has long been known as a ‘weed’ in Europe. The herb is often used in traditional herbal medicine, especially the above-ground part (herba).

Tormentil (Potentilla erecta) is a plant that grows in heath and forest areas. In tinctures, the root is most commonly used because it contains the highest levels of bitter substances and tannins.
