Vitakruid Vitamin K Baby Drops are specially developed for newborn babies. The dosage aligns with the Health Council's advice to give breastfed infants 150 mcg extra vitamin K from day 8 up to and including 12 weeks. These drops, containing two forms of vitamin K, are a good daily supplement for babies up to and including 12 weeks.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my baby need extra vitamin K?
Newborns do not yet have the proper intestinal bacteria to produce enough vitamin K themselves. The dose of vitamin K given to the baby immediately after birth is sufficient for the first week. From day 8 up to 12 weeks, 150 mcg of additional vitamin K per day is recommended for breastfed babies.
How should I give my baby the vitamin K drops?
You can use the pipette to give the drops directly into your baby's mouth or mix them with expressed milk. It is convenient to give the vitamin K drops at a fixed time each day, for example, before or after a feeding, so you easily remember.
From when and how long should I give my baby vitamin K?
Start on day 8 after birth and continue until the 13th week. The supplementation advice applies to breastfed babies. Premature babies need vitamin K for a longer period. Consult your doctor or healthcare service about this.
