S-Acetyl-L-Glutathione (SAG) (30 and 90 capsules) is a derivative of glutathione, consisting of three amino acids: glutamine, cysteine, and glycine. Due to the added acetyl group, S-Acetyl-L-Glutathione is an optimized form of glutathione. Vitakruid S-Acetyl-L-Glutathione contains 100 mg per capsule and has the added advantage that the capsules are acid-resistant. Available in packs of 30 and 90 vegan capsules.
Acid-resistant capsules are specially designed to protect their contents from the acidic environment of the stomach. They have a coating that withstands stomach acid but dissolves in the less acidic environment of the small intestine.
Regular glutathione (GSH) and S-Acetyl-L-Glutathione (SAG) differ in chemical structure. In S-Acetyl-L-Glutathione, an acetyl group is added. This modification protects the compound from enzymatic breakdown and makes it more stable. S-Acetyl-L-Glutathione is therefore considered the superior form.
