Solgar Deglycyrrhised Licorice Root Extract (60 vegetable capsules) contains an extract of the root of the licorice plant (Glycyrrhiza glabra). It is a deglycyrrhized extract, in which a large part of the glycyrrhizin has been removed. In addition to the extract, ground licorice root powder has been added. This supplement is standardized to a maximum of 1% glycyrrhizic acid.
Licorice tea is made by steeping the root in hot water, while a supplement contains a concentrated amount of licorice root. This makes it easier to get a consistent dosage.
This means that the extract contains a reduced level of glycyrrhizic acid, according to the specifications of Solgar.
