Solgar Cinnamon (100 capsules) contains 300 mg concentrated cinnamon bark extract (4:1) per capsule in combination with 200 mg ground cinnamon bark powder. Together this is equivalent to the active ingredient content of 1400 mg cinnamon bark. The cinnamon types used are Cinnamomum burmannii and Cinnamomum spp. The product is suitable for vegetarians and vegans and is packed in dark glass for protection against light, air, and moisture.
This means that 4 parts of the original (dried) cinnamon are used to obtain 1 part extract. This indicates the concentration of the extract. A dose of 300 mg extract comes from the equivalent of 1200 mg dried cinnamon.
The cinnamon comes from tropical cinnamon trees, mainly from Asia, but is also cultivated in South America.
Cinnamomum burmannii (cassia) has a rich, aromatic flavor, while Cinnamomum spp. in this product stands for a concentrated extract with standardized plant substances. The combination ensures both the whole herb and the extract in one capsule.
