Vitals AHCC® 500 mg (60 or 180 capsules) is a convenient supplement based on a fermented mushroom extract from shiitake. Each capsule contains 500 mg AHCC®, with a standardized content of alpha-glucans. The recommended daily dosage is two capsules, easily taken with a meal. If intake needs to be increased, the dose can be scaled up to a maximum of six capsules per day. The plant-based capsules are suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
What is the difference between AHCC and other mushroom supplements?
AHCC® is a patented extract from shiitake mycelia with a high content of alpha-glucans, which are better absorbed by fermentation. Unlike standard mushroom supplements, which often contain beta-glucans, AHCC® has a unique composition and production method.
What are alpha-glucans?
Alpha-glucans are a type of carbohydrate (polysaccharides) made up of glucose molecules linked together by alpha bonds. They naturally occur in starchy foods such as grains and some mushrooms.
Why is it recommended to take AHCC® with a meal?
It helps to swallow the capsules more easily, especially if you use multiple capsules per day. In addition, taking it with a meal fits well into a regular routine, which helps keep your use consistent. Some ingredients in supplements are also better absorbed when taken with food, especially if the meal contains fat.
What makes this product different from standard shiitake powder?
Unlike dried powder, AHCC® is obtained from a liquid fermentation of shiitake. During this process, cell residues are removed and only soluble nutrients and polysaccharides remain.
