Vitakruid Active Folic Acid 400 mcg (90 tablets) contains 400 mcg folic acid in the form of Quatrefolic® (folate 5-MTHF) per tablet. Quatrefolic® is the biologically active form of folate, bonded to glucosamine salt. The tablet has a diameter of approximately 9 mm and a weight of about 160 mg, making it easier to swallow. Because the tablet is vegan, the product is suitable for various diets. The recommended dosage is just 1 tablet per day, making it easy to add to your routine. A pack of 90 tablets is sufficient for about 3 months of daily use.
Folic acid, also called vitamin B11 or vitamin B9, is the synthetic form of this B vitamin used in supplements.
Folate, the natural form of this vitamin, naturally occurs in green vegetables such as spinach, Brussels sprouts and broccoli, as well as in eggs, wholemeal bread and meat.
Folic acid is normally converted via the MTHFR enzyme to the active form. Because 5-MTHF is already the converted form, this conversion via the enzyme is no longer necessary.
