Swanson Vitamins Full Spectrum Turmeric (30, 100 and 240 capsules) contains ground turmeric root, derived from the Curcuma longa plant. Turmeric is known as a spice in the kitchen, but has also been used for centuries in traditional herbal formulas. This Full Spectrum® formula is based on the whole root (rhizome), without extracts. The product is suitable for those looking for a pure, daily supplement based on a well-known herb.
Turmeric is a spice derived from the Curcuma longa plant. The root is often dried and ground, and is recognizable by its yellow color.
This supplement contains the whole ground herb (full spectrum), without extraction. An extract usually contains higher concentrations of certain compounds such as curcuminoids.
When using medication, especially anticoagulants or drugs that affect the liver, it is wise to consult a doctor first. In medical conditions like gallbladder problems, combining with turmeric may also be undesirable.
In some people, turmeric in supplement form may cause mild stomach or intestinal complaints, especially at high dosages. In case of hypersensitivity or persistent discomfort, it is advisable to stop taking it and consult a doctor.
This is a full spectrum product, meaning it contains the whole ground turmeric root. No standardized amount of curcumin has been added or measured; the content varies per batch, depending on factors such as soil, harvest time, and growing conditions.
Turmeric is a natural product and may vary in color, smell, and texture from batch to batch. These differences are normal and result from natural variations in the plant material.
The absorption of turmeric can be improved by combining it with black pepper (piperine), for example in a formula with BioPerine®. This compound is known for increasing absorption of certain nutrients.
