Royal Green Astaxanthin 4 mg (60 or 120 softgels) contains astaxanthin, a natural carotenoid derived from the green microalga Haematococcus pluvialis. The algae are cultivated under strict conditions in a GMP-certified environment in Hawaii, without the use of chemical additives. For extraction, a supercritical CO₂ extraction process is used, which ensures a pure and concentrated end product. In addition to astaxanthin, this supplement also contains the carotenoids canthaxanthin, beta-carotene and lutein. Furthermore, natural vitamin E has been added.
Astaxanthin is a natural pigment (carotenoid) that occurs in the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis. It is the substance that gives salmon and shrimp their pink color, for example.
Natural astaxanthin from algae contains a full spectrum of carotenoids, while synthetic forms are artificially produced and often contain only one compound.
The algae are cultivated in Hawaii under controlled conditions in a clean environment, with plenty of sunlight and optimal quality standards.
Softgels contain ingredients dissolved in oil (here safflower oil), which can support stability and absorption. Capsules generally contain powders.
Astaxanthin and vitamin E are fat-soluble substances. Taking them with a meal containing fats supports optimal absorption.
