What does ‘sustained release’ mean for these vitamin C tablets?

Sustained release means that the tablet is designed so the vitamin C is not released all at once, but gradually over a longer period.

How does a sustained release tablet work?

The tablet contains a special structure or coating that ensures the active ingredient is released step by step instead of immediately after intake.

What is ascorbic acid?

Ascorbic acid is the chemical name for vitamin C and is a commonly used form in food supplements.

What is the difference between ascorbic acid and other forms of vitamin C?

Ascorbic acid is a pure form of vitamin C, while other variants are sometimes bound to minerals or combined with other substances.

What are rosehips?

Rosehips are the fruits of the rose plant (Rosa canina) and naturally contain various nutrients, including vitamin C.

Why is rosehip added to vitamin C supplements?

Rosehip is often combined with vitamin C because of its natural origin and because it naturally occurs together with vitamin C in foods.

What is the difference between water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins?

Water-soluble vitamins dissolve in water, while fat-soluble vitamins dissolve in fats. Vitamin C is water-soluble and is therefore often taken with water, at any time of the day or with a meal.
