DHA (and also EPA) are called fish fatty acids because they are often derived from fish (oil). In this supplement, however, the DHA comes from algae, the original source from which fish get their omega-3 fatty acids.
Algae oil is a vegan alternative to fish oil and provides the same omega-3 fatty acid DHA, without fish taste or smell. Whereas fish oil also naturally contains EPA, this fatty acid is present in algae oil only in smaller amounts or sometimes not at all.
