BioTechUSA Iso Whey Zero Chocolate (25 g) is a drink powder based on whey protein isolate, packed in a handy sachet for one serving. One sachet provides 21 g of protein and 9,161 mg of essential amino acids, supplemented with L-glutamine and the BCAAs leucine, isoleucine and valine. The whey is made from the milk of cows that can graze freely for most of the year. After that, the whey is filtered using cross-flow microfiltration, which means one serving contains just 0.20 g of lactose. You simply mix the sachet with 200 ml of water for a creamy chocolate shake, or incorporate the powder into pancakes or muffins. The sachet fits into any bag, making it easy to take your shake with you to the gym, your work, or when travelling.
Whey, also known as lactoserum, is the liquid left over from cheese making. Whey contains valuable milk proteins, which are filtered and dried into protein powder.
The difference lies in the production process. Whey isolate is filtered for longer than whey concentrate. As a result, isolate contains more protein and less fat and lactose.
Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins. Essential amino acids are the nine amino acids that the body cannot produce itself, so you have to get them through your diet. One serving of this product contains 9,161 mg of essential amino acids.
BCAA stands for branched-chain amino acids. These are three amino acids: leucine, isoleucine and valine. The name refers to their chemical structure: the base of the molecule has a side chain that branches out. They are naturally present in whey and are also added separately to this product.
Leucine, isoleucine and valine are present in this product in a ratio of approximately 2:1:1. This means there is roughly twice as much leucine as isoleucine or valine. This ratio is widely used in sports nutrition.
Leucine is an essential amino acid and the most common BCAA in whey. It occurs naturally in protein-rich foods such as dairy, meat, fish, eggs and legumes.
BCAAs are found in almost all protein-rich foods. Examples include dairy, meat, fish, eggs, legumes, nuts and seeds. Dairy and especially whey contain relatively high levels of BCAAs.
