NOW Foods Methylfolate 1000 mcg (90 tablets) contains the biologically active form of folic acid, known as 5-MTHF. Each tablet provides a generous dosage of 1000 mcg folate.
5-MTHF stands for 5-methyltetrahydrofolate, the active, biologically available form of folate (vitamin B11). Unlike regular folic acid (the synthetic form), 5-MTHF does not need to be further converted by the body.
Quatrefolic® is a patented form of 5-MTHF (5-methyltetrahydrofolate), the biologically active form of folate (vitamin B11). It is bound to glucosamine salt, ensuring good stability, solubility, and bioavailability.
The recommended daily amount for women trying to conceive or who are pregnant is 400 mcg of folic acid. A dosage of 1000 mcg may be suitable for pregnant women, but only under the guidance of a doctor.
