This supplement is formulated in a softgel with an oil solution, making it easy to use with daily food. This alga naturally produces a broad palette of carotenoids and is often chosen for supplements with mixed carotenoids of natural origin.
Both are plant carotenoids with a similar structure. Beta-carotene is the most common form and is a precursor of vitamin A. The algae D. salina also contains natural amounts of alpha-carotene and other pigments such as zeaxanthin.
Beta-carotene is a fat-soluble substance. A softgel with an oil solution (such as safflower and olive oil in this product) ensures better distribution and absorption of carotenoids in the body compared to a dry tablet.
