What is shatavari?
Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) is a climbing plant from the asparagus family. The plant is native to, among other places, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka, and mainly grows in dry, rocky areas and at the base of the Himalayas.
What does the name shatavari mean?
The name shatavari literally means 'woman with a hundred husbands'. Within Ayurveda, the plant has been used for thousands of years.
What are shatavarins?
Shatavarins are plant compounds which fall under the category of saponins. The root of the shatavari plant contains the highest concentration of shatavarins. That’s why the root is used for this extract.
What does standardised to shatavarins mean?
This means that the extract contains a set level of shatavarins. In this product, that is 30 mg of shatavarins per 300 mg extract. Thanks to this standardisation, every batch contains a comparable amount of these plant substances.
