Viridian Saffron Extract (30 or 60 capsules) contains saffron extract derived from the stigmas of the Crocus sativus flower, combined with calendula. Each capsule delivers 30 mg saffron extract, standardized to 2% safranal and 3% crocins. The saffron is carefully harvested and processed through a controlled extraction process to preserve the natural composition. The formula is complemented by calendula and is suitable for people who choose a plant-based extract in capsule form.
Saffron extract is obtained from the fine, orange stigmas of the Crocus sativus flower. These threads are hand-picked and then dried and processed into a concentrated extract.
A standardized extract contains a fixed amount of certain components. In this case, it means that each serving contains a controlled percentage of safranal and crocins. This ensures consistency between capsules and batches.
The harvest of saffron is very labor-intensive. Each flower contains only a small number of stigmas, which have to be hand-picked. As a result, a lot of raw material is required for a small amount of extract.
Saffron is mainly cultivated in countries with a warm and dry climate, such as Iran. The combination of soil and climate plays an important role in the quality of the plant.
Calendula (Calendula officinalis) is a plant that originally comes from the Mediterranean region, but is now also grown in other parts of Europe and Asia. The plant is known for its bright orange flowers, which are harvested and used in various applications, including supplements. In formulas, calendula is used as a plant-based ingredient alongside other extracts, such as saffron.
