Biotin is a water-soluble B vitamin that naturally occurs in foods such as eggs, nuts, and whole grain products.

Biotin naturally occurs in liver, eggs, and peanuts. Other good sources of biotin include nuts, kernels, seeds, avocados, mushrooms, sweet potatoes, spinach, and whole grains.

Do not use biotin just before blood tests. High doses of biotin (such as 5000 mcg) can affect certain laboratory results. Discuss use in advance with your doctor or the laboratory.

Biotin and vitamin B8 are different names for the same nutrient. In the Netherlands, it is often called vitamin B8.
