NOW Foods Vitamin D3 Gummies (90 gummies) contain 25 mcg (1,000 IU) of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) per gummy. The gummies have a strawberry flavour with other natural flavourings and are made with pectin as a gelling agent. The formula includes, among others, tapioca syrup, cane sugar and natural colourings from vegetable and fruit juices. The recommended dose is 1 to 2 gummies per day. Sufficient for about 1.5 to 3 months with daily use.
Vitamin D3, also called cholecalciferol, is a fat-soluble vitamin.
Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) is derived from yeast or mushrooms, while vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is usually obtained from lanolin, a natural substance from sheep's wool.
Vitamin D naturally occurs in, among other things, oily fish, eggs and liver. In addition, vitamin D is added to certain foods in some countries, such as margarine and baking and frying products.
Pectin is a gelling agent extracted from fruit, such as apples and citrus fruits. It gives the gummies their soft texture.
The flavour comes from natural flavourings. The colour of the gummies comes from vegetable and fruit juices.
NOW Foods recommends taking the gummies with a meal. Vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble vitamin and is therefore often combined with a mealtime.
