Nordic Naturals Vitamin D3 1000 (120 softgels) contains vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) in a compact mini-softgel. The formula is based on organic extra virgin olive oil and contains natural ingredients such as rosemary extract, vitamin E, and natural flavor. The softgels are small in size, easy to swallow, and lightly flavored with orange.
Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) is a plant-based form of vitamin D, while D3 (cholecalciferol) usually comes from animal sources and is widely used in supplements because of its broad application.
Vitamin D3 is naturally found in fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel, and herring, but also in egg yolks and fortified foods such as margarine.
Olive oil is used as a carrier in the capsule, which helps to properly incorporate fat-soluble ingredients such as vitamin D3 into the capsule.
It is recommended to take this softgel with a meal, especially a meal containing fat, because vitamin D is fat-soluble.
