BioTechUSA BCAA Zero Amino Acids (360 g) is a drink powder containing the branched-chain amino acids L-leucine, L-isoleucine and L-valine. Each 9 g serving contains 6 g BCAAs in a 2:1:1 ratio, namely 3 g L-leucine, 1.5 g L-isoleucine and 1.5 g L-valine. The formula also provides 0.7 g L-glutamine and 2 mg vitamin B6 per portion, in the form of pyridoxine hydrochloride. The L-leucine is processed as instant L-leucine so that the powder dissolves well in 300 ml water. With 40 servings per pack and a recommended intake of 1 serving a day, a tub lasts 40 days. The powder is suitable for vegans, sweetened with sucralose, and available in ten flavours, making it practical for athletes who drink it before their workout.
BCAA stands for branched-chain amino acids. These are three essential amino acids: L-leucine, L-isoleucine and L-valine. The body cannot produce essential amino acids itself, so they must be obtained from food.
The 2:1:1 ratio indicates how the three BCAAs relate to each other. This product contains two parts L-leucine to one part L-isoleucine and one part L-valine. Per serving, that's 3 g L-leucine, 1.5 g L-isoleucine and 1.5 g L-valine.
BCAAs are naturally present in high-protein foods, such as meat, fish, eggs, dairy, legumes and nuts.
L-glutamine is an amino acid that the body can manufacture itself. In addition, it is naturally found in, among others, meat, fish, eggs, dairy and legumes.
Instant L-leucine is L-leucine that has been processed with an emulsifier (lecithins) and maltodextrin. This makes the powder dissolve more easily in water.
